The Bishop José Manuel Lorca Planes will be the Town Crier Fair 2009 (14/08/2009)

The new bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena, José Manuel Lorca Planes, will be the harbinger of the Fair in September 2009 in Murcia, in a ceremony to be held on the 4th, at 20.30 am in the Plenary Hall of the City Council Murcia.

The bishop accepted the invitation by the Mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara Botía, last June when it was still unknown who would be the new Bishop of Cartagena.

After taking possession of the Diocese of Murcia, Lorca Planes confirmed their attendance at the event.

Among the merits that holds the new Town Crier is his deep knowledge of the Feria de Murcia, both as son of this land as the various positions he held in the diocese before his appointment as bishop.

In addition, Lorca Planes is a strong supporter of the traditions of Murcia and has been a true ambassador of our country during the administration of the Diocese of Teruel.

The prelate also treasures numerous awards and recognitions from various institutions Murcia, among which are the Cabildo of guilds, clubs and various associations vegetable garden.

Biography

José Manuel Lorca Planes Espinardo born on October 18, 1949.

He completed his secondary studies in the Minor Seminary and then at the Major Seminary Church "San Fulgencio" of Murcia.

He has a degree in Biblical Theology at the Faculty of Theology of Granada.

He was ordained priest in the parish of San Pedro Apostle, of Espinardo, 29 June 1975.

In our Diocese of Cartagena has held the following positions:

1975 - 1980, coadjutor of the parish of "St. James the Great" of Totana, 1980 - 1985: Junior Counsellor Diocesan Catholic Action Movement, 1980 - 1985: Secretary of the Bishop of Cartagena Bishop Javier Azagra Libiana, 1984 - 1989 Rector of the major and minor seminary Cartagena 1989 - 1999: Vicar Episcopal pastoral area of Lorca and pastor of "St. Matthew" by Lorca, 1998: Pro-Vicar General in the period in which the Hon.

Archbishop Antonio Cañizares was the Apostolic Administrator, 1999 - 2002: Pastor of "San Nicolas de Bari and Santa Catalina, de Murcia, 1999: Vicar General of the diocese, 2002: Pastor of St. Michael Archangel of Murcia.

He was also professor of religion in public schools, teacher of "Origins of Christianity" at the Center for Theological Studies "San Fulgencio, Murcia, professor of Introduction to Sacred Scripture, History of Israel, Christology and ecclesiology in Higher Institute of Religious Studies at a distance "San Agustín", Director and founder of the School of Theology in Lorca.

Ordained bishop on March 6, 2004 in Teruel.

Part of the Episcopal Commission for Seminaries and Universities of the Spanish Episcopal Conference.

In the Church of Aragon is responsible for the Lay Apostolate of Youth and Vocation.
