The City exceeds expectations and runs 95 measures of the Local Strategy to Combat Climate Change in just two years (06/08/2009)

The Department of Environment and Urban Quality is working at top speed to Murcia decrease CO2 emissions to the atmosphere.

Proof of this is that from October 2007 until now, have set up 95 of the 114 measures that make up the Local Strategy for Climate Change.

In this way it has implemented more than 83% of this plan in less than two years.

So, have already stopped issuing a total of 86,000 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

To this figure must be added the CO2 they absorb more than 18,000 trees planted in the town since April 2008 (up to 6 kilograms of CO2 per year per tree) but that can not be counted until the trees have not acquired a certain size .

There will also be necessary to add carbon dioxide to fail to deliver because of the three solar plants to be installed in Jerome and Avileses, Gea and Sucina Truyols and whose works have been finally adjudicated.

These three solar farms will mean saving 36,810 tonnes of CO2 a year.

Of the 95 measures that have already been implemented can be noted:

·

·

Gradual replacement of conventional lights LED technology: A total of 11,981 bulbs have been changed which has stopped issuing 6,142 tonnes of CO2 a year.

· Use of biodiesel in public transport: The use of B-20 buses in line 4 has resulted in emission savings of 26.8 tonnes of CO2 a year.

·

·

Electricity production in the biogas from the landfill: The use of hydrogen from biogas derived from anaerobic decomposition of waste as energy source has saved 15,509 tonnes of CO2.

·
