The works of the bike lane between Juan Carlos I and Counts of Barcelona will start soon (29/07/2009)

The works of the zero section Murcia bike lane, which runs between Avenue Juan Carlos I and Calle Condes de Barcelona and has a length of 3.4 kilometers, will be implemented shortly after the tentative approval today of the contract, amount of 196,976 euros, the company San Patricio SA Forum.

The deadline for execution of these works is two months.

The zero section begins at the intersection of Avenida Juan Carlos I and Calle Condes de Barcelona.

In this area there is an initial segment of bike path developed through partial plans, primarily the so-called CR-5.

The entire first section is built on the existing pavement, removing the floor and pouring the green cluster of area reserved for bicycles.

The overall project is divided into three sections: the section 0, which has 3.4 km and the section 1, of 6.6 kilometers, and a much shorter term, less than a month for the connection between the two campus, with a length of 2.9 kilometers.

The Governing Board has given approval to the provisional award of section 1 of the bike lane between the Paso del Malecón and the Catholic University of Murcia, SL Someda Construction Company in the amount of 110,145 euros.

This section measured 6.6 km and the route will start at the existing rail that runs along the river Mota, through the oxbow between Rincon de Seca and Beniscornia Corner, Cherry Lane and the road until you reach Guadalupe the UCAM.

Moreover, the stretch that links the town with the Campus de Espinardo leave the Avenida Juan Carlos I.

In this way we aim to a well-articulated network of roads cycling trails that circle the city of Murcia and connect two of the most used by users of bicycles in the city are two universities.

These routes will be added the other actions that the City of Murcia is planning to undertake to promote the use of bike lanes throughout the municipality.

The City Council is expected that the whole project of connecting the university campus is ready before the end of the year.

The total cost of the entire project is estimated at almost 400,000 euros, and was made possible thanks to an agreement with the Department of Public Works of the region.
