More than 50 students from the course participants UCAM `Cartagena and La Union: the presence of Cultures' (16/07/2009)

UCAM held on 15 and 16 July during `Cartagena and La Union: the presence of cultures', organized by the Department of Human and Religious Sciences, as part of the Summer University UCAM 2009.

The activity coordinators, and Esteban Bernal Ricardo Lafuente, expressed their satisfaction with the ongoing acceptance by the university, embodied in more than 50 entries registered and highlighted as key objectives of the campus, combining culture, reflection, rest and outdoor recreation in a Christian environment that promotes coexistence, solidarity and dialogue among young people.

The team coordinator explained that "through this initiative, more than 50 students learned firsthand the culture, life and customs of the Campo de Cartagena, deep Christian roots and the strong environmental impact observed in the region as a result of the intense industrial activity developed during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. "

UCAM students filled during two intense days, a complete tour that included visits to the Regional Museum of Modern Art, Cartagena, the current site of the exhibition of Rodin's 'The Age', and monuments and landmarks of the port city as the Teatro Romano.

Students also visited the mines in La Union and tested in situ the dramatic consequences of the ecological disaster of Portman.

The secretary of the Department of Human and Religious Sciences at the Catholic University, Ricardo Lafuente, stressed the importance of promoting cultural activities such entertainment and leisure among young people in the field of university education "and to themselves of a great opportunity to open up to God and nature, "he said.
