The Archaeological Murcia shows the discovery and recovery process of the Roman Theatre (15/07/2009)

The Director of Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage, Enrique Ujaldón, today introduced the shows' history of a discovery.

History of a project: The Roman Theatre of Cartagena 'which will be inaugurated tomorrow by the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, at 20:30.

A presentation of the exhibition, which runs until September 20 in the temporary exhibition hall of the Archaeological Museum of Murcia, attended by the manager of the Foundation Cajamurcia, Pascual Martinez, curator, Sebastian Ramallo, and Roman Theatre Museum director, Elena Ruiz, who is also curator of the exhibition with the architect Rafael Moneo.

The exhibition takes visitors back to what it meant the discovery of the Roman Theater in one of the most deprived districts of the city, and the story of his recovery.

A long, complex, but exciting, "said the CEO.

He noted that "the recovery of the theater has been valued by experts and the proof is the interest aroused in the scientific community seminars that the museum has made to explain the intervention process."

The exhibition, which was set out in the Museo del Teatro Romano, is divided into four thematic blocks collected through photos, text and graphic material varied the recovery process of the monument.

It starts in the evolution of the archaeological work, continue with the parameters of its restoration and development of comprehensive project, designed by architect Rafael Moneo.

In addition, a selection of archaeological takes visitors to the regular work of documenting the items recovered during the excavation, from the documentation of context to its catalog, plotting and restoration.

The project can be integrated with a model to visualize in three dimensions the complexity of the museum display from the lower altitudes of the city to the interior of the monument and the adequacy of their environment.

Complete shows the projection of a video that graphically and with the addition of virtual images tells all the vicissitudes of the Roman Theatre since its discovery to date with all the features of Roman building and their avatars to over the centuries.

On the occasion of the exhibition will be held an educational workshop, Tuesday through Friday morning, with the aim of bringing the building's history to children between 8 and 12 years.

It has also published a brochure, in English and Castilian, which contains all the intervention process in the theater.

El Museo Teatro Romano de Cartagena, who last weekend celebrated its first anniversary, has received a total of 160,000 visitors since its opening.
