Murcia City Council changed 10,000 bulbs in traffic lights to install lamps 'LED' and get to save energy.
Specifically, it will change traffic lights lamps of 165 traffic light junctions of Murcia and hamlets.
These bulbs can save 80% electricity and provide more security to traffic because they are more durable, lasting 10 years versus 6 months of a conventional lamp, are more reliable because when you melt it slowly fade away and consumes 10 watts compared to 70 watts of conventional ones.
This initiative, which is done through an agreement with the Institute for the Diversification and Saving of Energy (IDEA), is part of the measures contained in the Local Strategy to Combat Climate Change.
In the municipality have already switched 1,639 conventional lamps 'LED' traffic lights.
At traffic light crossings are being made in new areas and these bulbs are installed.
The City Council approved the specifications for this service and has been provisionally awarded the work to Traffic Murcia, SA The Consistory will invest 200,000 euros.
