The City Council has earmarked more than 6.2 million euros in 2009 to perform maintenance and improvement of public schools in the municipality (02/07/2009)

• Up to June, the Council also has plumbing and facade beautification of 37 sites

As usual, the city of Murcia, through the Department of Education and Personal, directed Pilar Megía, devotes a significant sum of money to plan repairs, improvement and maintenance of public schools in the municipality of Murcia.

For the year 2009, the Department of Education will allocate EUR 6,236,762.64 for maintenance actions, improvement, repair and extension in a total of 39 schools in the neighborhoods and districts of the municipality.

Since the PP government team in the city of Murcia is committed to offering quality education, with more and better services for the entire school community.

The maintenance, improvement, repair and expansion of public schools is a priority objective, which is why, as the commitment of the Councillor for Education and Staff is to undertake actions in all schools throughout its mandate, as announced at the beginning of this term.

Moreover, it should be noted that this total contribution that the City of Murcia has this year for maintenance works, improvement and expansion also has the financing of the Autonomous Community and the Local Investment Fund.

Improvement works, maintenance and repair will be carried out in the following public schools:

Perez Special Education Center Urruti (Churra). The center conducted the adequacy of pavements, firm and patio drains.

Adequacy of the system of plumbing and installation of faucets, as well as sports equipment (baskets, goals, etc.) And pre-wired for the sports.

At school, Our Lady of Fatima (Bojar-Beniaján) in the center Saavedra Fajardo (Algezares) and Colegio Nuestra Señora de la Antigua (Monteagudo).

Units and facilities expansions

The CEIP Our Lady of Tears (Cabezo de Torres) is to proceed with the expansion of six units of early childhood education.

Expansion of three units of early childhood education and construction of toilets and offices.

CEIP Arteaga (Sucina). Extension of child pavilion and dining room.

Repair of roofs in the CEIP Cierva Peñafiel.

Actions carried out up to June 2009

In addition to the actions that the City Council held over this summer and the rest of the year, we must add the works have been carried out until last June in schools.

These are actions for improvement and plumbing, among other maintenance.

In total it has acted in 37 schools (18 of Murcia and 19 districts).

Regarding the Review and plumbing repair, we should underline that this is work that has been done in collaboration with the School-Workshop of the Police Headquarters of La Alberca, a collaboration that has already started carrying out the 2008 financial year and that was the execution of works in seven, focusing on plumbing and electricity.

Balance term
