Public universities in the region signed the first collective agreement for faculty and research staff (30/06/2009)

The University of Murcia and Cartagena Polytechnic today signed the first union agreement for the teaching and research staff (PDI) employed in a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Rector of the educational institution Murcia.

In the public act of signatures, vice teacher of both universities highlighted the main issues governing the agreement, which include, among others, ways of promoting this personal, permits and licenses and balancing work and family life .

The agreement also envisages the training of the teaching staff mobility and the new fee, which will increase over the three years of operation of this instrument in an average of 22 percent.

The representatives of the signatory trade unions, CCOO, FETE-UGT, CSI-F and SIME, valued the deal as "good", noting especially that the collective contract teachers has gained stability.

Trade unions were equally satisfied with the regulation of the promotion of this group and have appreciated the close positions on the question of salaries.

The rector of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Felix Faure, described the agreement as "groundbreaking in many ways", while for the chancellor of the University of Murcia, José Antonio Cobacho, the agreement signed today provides stability to the PDI hired to to work under better conditions.

Both governing commended the parties involved in the negotiating effort made to reach this agreement, whose merit is, by all signatories, that is a good starting point for future achievements.

This agreement affects between the two institutions, approximately one thousand workers.
