The construction of storm drain in the northern end definitively with floods from heavy rains (26/06/2009)

The floods in the north when torrential rains occur are closer to being "ancient history."

The Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, together with the President of the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura, José Salvador Fuentes Zorita, have visited the works made for the construction of two sections of interceptor drains in the north, in which the Council has invested 8 million euros.

The Hydraulic Infrastructure Plan of the North Area of Murcia, promoted by the Municipality and the Segura basin with an estimated budget of 90 million euros, is one of its objectives to solve the flooding problems caused by rain in districts of the north of Murcia: Espinardo, the strut, Churra and Head of Torres.

Such floods occur in heavy rain events that cause time water is stored.

To avoid this we designed a complex system of interceptor drains, underground hydraulic structure whose purpose is to collect the water of the streams before it reaches the city and channel it in a controlled manner to pour into the river Segura, along almost 7 kilometers of pipelines.

Is expected to capture the runoff from all watercourses that intersect, the main those of Espinardo, the strut, Churra and Cabeza de Torres.

Each brings a certain flow interceptor drains ranging from 4 m3/sec some small gullies up to 44 m3/sec of major watercourses.

Water abstractions are performed in two different ways.

In some cases, as in the Rambla de Churra or has been executed in the section C of the North Coast, recruitment is done directly.

Is basically a collection pit located next to the interceptor itself and serves to channel storm water into the interior.

In other cases a branch is made out of the interceptor and the same branch serves to channel the promenade, as for example with the Payment Rambla Obispo, parallel to Avenida Juan de Borbon.

Building on the development of commercial areas in the north has built a section of interceptor drains to the east of the avenue, with a length of 450 m and a size of 5 meters wide and 3 meters high.

When crossing the Avenida Juan de Borbon will be held with the branch union of the gully Payment Obispo.

Lower North Coast

They are now completed three sections of Hydraulic Infrastructure Plan of the North: the one corresponding to the new area of economic and commercial activity and the two new sections visited today.

Both run under the roadway of the North Coast is currently running, specifically under the sections B and C of Phase I (between Juan Carlos and Juan de Borbon).

Are identical in the hydraulic section, consisting of a double reinforced concrete box 5 meters wide by 3 in height and total length of 683 meters.

The investment was financed by the city of Murcia and amounts to 8 million euros.

Specifically, section B, run by hydraulics and fabricated Oyco and ended in September, has a length of 320 meters and has had a budget of 3.7 million euros.

Concluded in May the works of section C, by the Joint Venture Forum Sánchez and Lake and San Patricio, costing 4.2 million euros.

In this case, has a length of 363 meters.
