The continued improvement in the social network of older people has today reached Azarbe Shore, where the Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, today presided over the inauguration of the new units.
The investment to continue building, expanding or rehabilitating the social centers for the elderly has found the four openings made in the last five months.
Thus in February was the turn of the expansion carried out in the center of Corvera and the next month in La Alberca, while in April opened the new facility built in the Cave (Monteagudo).
Mayor House has highlighted the importance of continuing with the programs to ensure that older people have suitable facilities where they can conduct their activities, enjoy a living space and participatory.
The Mayor was joined at the opening by the Social Welfare Deputy Mayor, Maria del Carmen Pelegrin, president of the Municipal Council of The Esparragal, Angel Perez, president of the Association of Senior Azarbe Shore, Ángeles López.
The new building is operational now occupies 500 square meters and replaces the previous one, a rented space that was too small.
The investment by the City Council in the construction and equipment amounted to 873,000 euros.
The center, located on the street Rullo, has one floor and has among its units with a cafeteria, kitchen, general, auditorium, multipurpose room, office, store room, physiotherapy, podiatry, hairdressing and toilets.
Abroad have a patio and two bocce courts.
The nearly 300 members comprising the association will now have a larger place where you can practice a full program of activities organized by the Department of Social Welfare.
In the center held all kinds of activities: sports, leisure, relaxation and health improvement, plus it will be an ideal place for neighbors and friends living together.
Specifically, the Bank of Azarbe partners participating in this year gerontogimnasia workshops, theater, festivals, cultural week, travel, board games and bowls.
The district has a population of approximately 1,400 inhabitants, of which 280 are members of the senior center.
