The Mayor's House opens "Venus Bike" by Antonio Campillo from now chairs the access to the Palace Almudí (22/06/2009)

Antonio Campillo has been one of the great sculptors of Murcia.

But never settle for that.

His generosity to the city of his birth and to their neighbors ever became a hallmark of the artist.

The Mayor presided this afternoon the opening of the play "Venus Bike" which was national sculpture prize Salzillo Francisco in 1969 that, henceforth, form part of the city's artistic heritage displayed in its streets and squares after be acquired by the City.

Its placement in the access to the main exhibition center city, the Palace Almudí, also has a special symbolism, since there was this year, next to the Exhibition Hall and the Church CAM Museo de San Juan de Dios, a large retrospective exhibition, considered by the Mayor as "a wonderful nonsense of creativity and art by the artist from Murcia.

The city now offers the chance to see a new work by a sculptor so loved and admired that it "has successfully combined the clarity of the artist with the love and dedication to the city of his birth."

Thus, Murcia "lost a good man, an excellent ambassador and an inimitable artist, you will always have this through their work."

This "Venus Bike" joins other great creations of the sculptor who can be seen on the streets of Murcia, as the Tribute to Nazareth, the Mercury, the bust of Saavedra Fajardo in Algezares or sculpture that welcomes the Auditorium and Congress Centre, which will soon be joined by other great works of the artist was high.
