Denounced the "continuing deceit" by Hall and company to justify parking in the Garden of San Esteban (18/06/2009)

Note from the platform:

The Platform for Mobility Parking Against San Esteban and Avenida de La Libertad "calls for greater transparency with the archaeological remains being found in archaeological excavations in the Garden of San Esteban, and finally the abandonment of the draft unnecessary and unsustainable parking, which is demonstrated increasingly unworkable and unjustifiable.

Mayor House asked wisdom, and requested that steps be taken to remodel the garden with large trees and value of archaeological remains found there.

The Platform for Mobility Parking Against San Esteban and Avenida de La Libertad ", has always defended the inconvenience of parking in the heart of Murcia for simple reasons of sustainable mobility (shared with sustainability experts from around the world), because of increased air pollution and noise, and loss of quality public spaces in private business after a few.

The platform claims that the facts are giving him reason.

The recent announcement that it has not been covered nearly half of places for neighbors who were offered in the initial draft of a park in the Garden of San Esteban involves much more than just owner and generated many questions and thoughts:

1. Do not justify the City Council and Mr. D.

Miguel Ángel Cámara building to provide parking places for residents of the area surrounding the Garden of San Esteban?

(Zone which itself was already one of the largest concentrations of car parks throughout the city prior to project the car park).

2. More importantly: How can we distribute the seats of a car that has all the permits, the implementation is still in question, and do not know the places which would have eventually?

In fact, the current work on the perimeter of the Garden of San Esteban correspond to the Heritage archaeological excavations required before making a decision on the permit (Truth: January 14, 2009).

In addition, Heritage reported that the permit would be conditioned upon the archaeological remains were found, and may not be viable the parking lot, or lose much of the area initially in the project.

3. Do not breach the contract documents free shopping plazas, where carried out the project, as specified in it to whom and under what conditions they could sell the seats?

4. If the locals do not "need" a car, besides other important considerations: What interests are behind this project so that the Mayor D.

Miguel Ángel Cámara try to keep justifying it, no matter what happens, with arguments that are falling under its own weight?

5. What arguments is now the City Council to justify the loss of a public garden, the possible effects of a protected site of cultural interest, increased traffic and pollution and noise, etc?

Not to mention that these two car parks has met the guidelines of the documents themselves sustainable mobility now drawn up in the city of Murcia, in which it is stated that the parking should be dissuasive in the suburbs, not in the center of the city.

Finally, the platform claims that are not subject to any conditions that once put to the City of Murcia the Directorate General of Cultural Heritage, under the Autonomous Region, to carry out archaeological excavations in the Garden of San Esteban.

(See The Truth: January 14, 2009).

Where are the billboards advertising the archaeological excavations being carried out?

Why allow the joint venture contractor does not put those signs and instead if you put posters for the distribution of parking spaces that is still in question, confusing the public?

Why is it important that people do not know the truth of what is being done there and the remains are being found, and why the City Council and the Ministry of Culture does not take action on the matter?

Why Heritage allows the company to breach the conditions at the time required for the archaeological excavations?

Why not allow members of this Platform entering the site of archaeological excavations, whether the remains found there are supposedly insignificant, according to the company?

We recall that the joint venture (the consortium) awarded the initial draft of the parking (consisting of General Services Group and Integrated Parking Management and Parking SA) subcontracted such excavations Arqueotec the company.
