The Mayor and the Minister agreed to inject 3.8 million euros to ensure basic social services (18/06/2009)

In 2008, social service centers handled 11,000 Murcia aid and other benefits

Most of this budget, almost 2 million euros, will aim the maintenance of social service centers of primary care in the municipality: City of Murcia, Murcia Murcia South and North, along with the 31 social work units dependent and distributed them through neighborhoods and villages.

The purpose of this network, which employs 78 people, is to ensure the right of citizens of the municipality to resources and benefits of public social services.

More than 27,000 people were treated in 2008 by appointment, which means more than 5,000 citizens last year, 22,489-and 10,000 more than in 2006-17800.

Also in 2008 the network of social services performed 15,401 cases and 24,712 families with 30,669 users associated interventions.

Through the network of primary care in the municipality last year processed nearly 11,000 applications for various types of aid, the City Council and the regional administration (social emergency aid, assistance for elderly or disabled, minimum wage insertion, etc..) as well as recognition of and benefits of the System of Care Unit, reporting social roots of the immigrant population and other social services (home help, residential income, telecare, etc.). .

The development of home help services, also included in the performance benefiting from this agreement will in 2009 with the contribution of 1.6 million euros, of which 411,000 will be funded by the City.

Meanwhile, the accompanying program will receive an endowment of 190,000 euros.

Currently, a total of 1,562 people benefit from the provision of home help service, which joined the 228 who receive food in their homes and 147 support over the weekend.

The aim is to maintain or restore physical, psychological and social patient, allowing the permanence in their environment, promoting personal autonomy and increasing their quality of life.

Furthermore, the Telecare service reaches 2,730 people in the municipality, which provides home care to emergency situations and social care for 24 hours 365 days a year via the telephone line.

The user has hung a medallion bearing and is operated with the push of a button, putting you in touch with a human agent Care Center.

This is a device aimed at improving the quality of life for over 65 years old, sick or disabled people living alone or living with others in similar situations.

This benefit, which began in Murcia in 1995 with 218 users, which reached 935 in 2002 and in 2003 had 1,500 beneficiaries, helping to cover two of the most important needs of the elderly: the solitude and safety.
