The president of the San Antonio Catholic University (UCAM), José Luis Mendoza, has been reported that "our university has been rated by the National Quality and Accreditation (ANECA), with the highest rating.

The Director of Civil Legal Services Spanish Episcopal Conference (CEE), Silverio Nieto, delivered the lecture entitled 'The Catholic universities in the light of the Apostolic Constitution Ex Corde Ecclesiae. "

The lawyer spoke during his speech on the phenomenon of Catholic Universities and their ownership in the light of canon law and of the Apostolic Constitution Ex corde Ecclesiae.

Nieto recalled that the purpose of the whole Catholic University, born in the heart of the Church, is to achieve a public presence, continuous and universal of Christian thought, designed to promote high culture and also to be great men by knowledge, prepared to perform duties responsibility in society and to witness their faith to the world.

The head of legal services of the episcopal conference said emphatically that "in the context of university legislation in force in Spain is possible to use the extensive freedom of establishment of Catholic Universities in all its various forms."

In particular, he added, "Catholic associations and private groups have the opportunity to exercise in this way their mission to evangelize the culture, thus providing a commendable service to the Spanish society."

Nieto Silverio recalled in this regard that in 1996, a group of lay Catholics, comprise the San Antonio College Foundation, and headed by the president, developer and founder of the UCAM, José Luis Mendoza gave life to an authentic Catholic university, which distinguished since the quality of research and teaching and fidelity to the Gospel and the Magisterium of the Church, amidst difficulties and misunderstandings of all kinds.

The first rector of the Universidad Católica San Antonio (UCAM), Antonio Montoro, received a heartfelt tribute in recognition of his work in the institution since its inception in 1996 until last year.

Montoro, who has been appointed honorary president of the UCAM, said that "the progress of this University has been extraordinary, but I'm sure that better times are coming."

During the act itself academics, the president of the Territorial Council of the CAM, Angel Martinez has been named honorary professor of the Faculty of Law and Business.

For his part, Director of Civil Legal Service of the Spanish Episcopal Conference, Silverio Nieto, has been appointed extraordinary professor of Canon Law and Ecclesiastical State of the San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia.

Both have expressed their gratitude for the grant of such distinctions.
