The University of Murcia receives 37,000 euros to study the marine reserve of Cabo de Palos and the Islas Hormigas (08/06/2009)

The University of Murcia Autonomous Community will receive a grant of 36,000 euros to analyze the effects of the declaration of marine reserve has had on Cabo de Palos and the Islas Hormigas.

The agreement approving the grant of this aid indicates that it is to examine the effects of the declaration of reserves "for use as a management tool itself."

Murcia University studies and research on the area of Cabo de Palos and the Ants Islands since 1989.

In 2002, the University and the Autonomous Region signed a collaboration agreement for research on fish stocks in the reserve and the ecological impact arising from the exercise of underwater activities.
