The Move Plan will permit the most complete in Murcia radiography public and private transport of all times (05/06/2009)

The first phase includes collection of data on vehicles, transportation, parking, loading and unloading, and transport non-mechanized

Public opinion will be crucial to determine actions to encourage more sustainable forms of travel

The new Bureau of mobility, consisting of more than 40 social partners, will discuss the results and undertake the necessary reforms

The new Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan of Murcia (Move Plan) will perform in the coming months, complete X-ray of public and private transport of all time, their wants and needs and preferences and concerns of users.

The Plan intends to conduct a comprehensive diagnosis of the current situation to the millimeter, identifying hot spots of traffic, the gauging of the parking, routes, stops and bus service quality, the needs of pedestrians, inventory and needs loading and unloading or preferences of users, merchants and other social actors.

This first phase of the plan should also include basic information, analysis and diagnosis of the situation on demographic and economic trends, roads, land use, public transport, traffic, parking and environmental and energy issues.

The main priorities of this phase are:

General mobility: Conducting household surveys and through the official website of Move Plan.

Private vehicles: Conducting surveys to determine the preference of users, capacity of vehicles and so-called floating cars.

Public Transportation: Audit quality urban bus lines, quality control stops and surveys users about their preferences.

Non-mechanized mobility: User surveys of non-mechanized modes, among which are the pedestrians and bicycles.

Parking: parking inventory, determination and surveys gauging night on user preferences.

Loading and unloading: Inventory of shops and places of loading and unloading.

Enterprise Sector: Survey on preferences of employers and merchants.

The first phase of the Move Plan includes the establishment of the Mobility Committee, which consists of traders, consumers, unions, professional associations, disabled people, representatives of the car parks, buses, taxis, hotels and other sectors.

The first phase of the Move Plan will be completed during the second half of June and in July the company will present a diagnostic analysis, and in October will present models for specific proposals.

Meanwhile, citizens can actively participate in the Plan by sending their suggestions and concerns to the website www.muevetemurcia.es to be operational in the coming days.

There will be a second phase of defining the strategic framework that sets out the objectives of the plan and which the City shall, to the winner of this work, objectives and priorities.

The third stage will involve the development of the operational proposals, and the fourth, in forecasting the future, strategies, regulatory and policy measures will be developed.
