Statement by the Delegation of Students of the Faculty of Arts on the abolition of CAP (05/06/2009)

Statement submitted by the Delegation of Students of the Faculty of Arts, University of Murcia:

Given recent statements by the Minister of Education, Mr. D.

Ángel Gabilondo, about the decision of the implementation of the Master of Teaching from the academic year 2009/2010, with the consequent immediate abolition of CAP (Pedagogical Aptitude Course) from the Student of the Faculty of Arts want to show our deep upset, because our students will be seriously harmed by this measure.

Then attach the document approved by the Faculty Board of Arts, of December 4, 2008, in which manifestábamos and our position on the Master:

Contributions from the Student to the Declaration of the Board of the Faculty of Letters on the new training course to enable to exercise the profession.

Our demands are:

1 º) Individuals enrolled in the current undergraduate should be able to make the CAP, thus respecting the interests and expectations of professional access legitimately have been generated in those who began their degrees according to a system and have the right to terminate following the same [Item 7 of the Declaration on the implementation Ceumar EHEA].

This will be achieved by extending the current CAP to the first course (and including) that could not be taught undergraduate courses.

2 º) The design of that Master is necessary to establish an academic calendar that allows complete it before the start of the oppositions [Item 7 of the Declaration on the implementation Ceumar EHEA].

3 º) All future graduates must have the possibility to attend the new training course to enable to pursue the teaching profession, and to replace the current CAP.

That is why this new training course has limited places to have access (numerus clausus).

4 º) Since it would be required to exercise the teaching profession in relation to price, demand that the price of theoretical credits do not exceed the price of credits in degree, and secondly, we ask that the practical credits are Free.

We also consider it necessary to establish a scholarship scheme in this new course similar to those of the levels (MEC).

5 º) We object, given the lack of knowledge that accrue to his credit a person who has completed Grade + training course to serve as educators, to undertake this course to enable access to a PhD.

6 º) In the unlikely event that the education authority to proceed with the current "Master Teacher Training", and sticking to the current legal framework, we consider it necessary to design a more credits for Practicum those set in " Proposal 0 credits distribution modules, and a smaller number in the module "Generic", for we believe that the truest and acquire the needed learning in the classroom.

Thus, finally, we would like to show our dissatisfaction with the existent communication with those affected, have not wanted to hear our voices, which show a total disagreement with the Minister's decision, and therefore ask that you keep the current CAP for graduates and improve the future for the upcoming Masters Degree students.
