The Department of Social Welfare, Gender Equality Policies and Citizenship renews travel service for the elderly in the municipality.
Social Welfare organized annually for Senior Citizens Centres diverse training, cultural and leisure and recreation that provide the major partners in further training and skills to facilitate their social and better quality of life.
These activities include conducting cultural tours to the region of Murcia, and other cultural destinations outside the region by hiring specialized firms to perform these services.
Throughout the year there are about 130 trips, involving about 7,000 adults.
This activity aims to promote leisure time of older people providing tourist and cultural activities, promote awareness of sights and culture of the region of Murcia and other places outside the region: history, monuments, customs and gastronomy, traditions.
and provide social activities for the welfare of the elderly, promoting relationships of solidarity and coexistence.
This project consists in 128 trips with official tour guide for 17 cultural routes of the region and 5 routes outside the region, the provinces of Alicante and Almeria, led to the 76 Centres for the Elderly.
They are journeys that take place throughout the year, full-time during the day (leaving at 8:00 am and return at 19:00 the place of origin).
Are expected to participate and benefit from this project are 6,912 people, partners as Social Centres for the Elderly.
The full economic cost of the project in 2009 is 74,279 euros.
The most popular destinations in 2008, within the region were Calasparra / Moratalla, Cartagena, and Jumilla and outside the region Guadalest, Altea and Shire of Velez-Mary.
