The House approved the Special Plan for the expansion of the UCAM (21/05/2009)

The full City Council has approved the working plan of about 135,577 meters square land ceded by the city of Murcia to expand the campus of the Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia, Guadalupe.

The Special Plan provides that the land ceded by the City are for educational equipment and as complementary to sporting, cultural, academic, residential, educational, college dining, etc.

PSOE and IU has voted against final adoption of the Special Plan UCAM and Town Planning Councillor, Fernando Berberena, recalled that the socialist PSOE an internal communication of 7 January 2003, signed by then-spokesman José Salvador Fuentes Zorita, required the mayor "does not continue to delay the transfer of land several times promised to Catholic University to enable it to mitigate his suffocating need for land annexed to the University Complex in order to continue developing their social and educational work under appropriate conditions. "

In the land donated will build a central boulevard north / south by two large trees that demarcate parcels, one west of the boulevard intended for teachers and additional facilities (auditorium and meeting facilities, residence halls, library, lecture halls, university hospital, University Social Club room, nursery, etc.) and another to the east that will be for sports facilities (classrooms, sports complex, Sports Modernization Center, etc.).

Also, we will construct a parking area with capacity for 782 seats and room for 12 buses.

If demand requires in the future we can build a basement in the parking lot.

Moreover, it provides a reserve of 3,615 meters square ground infrastructure for a tram, in the future come to this campus.

The City Council signed a land transfer agreement with the UCAM.

In that agreement, the Town Hall in return gets the use of new sports facilities and classrooms.

The Town Planning Councillor has highlighted the Council's commitment to higher education, indicating that more than 7,000 families are related to the UCAM, students and workers.
