Socialist Parliamentary Group has shown its support and solidarity with the demands of the platform "The South Coast" which will appear tomorrow.
The regional deputy, Teresa Rosique, has filed a motion in the Assembly which calls for a Plan of Improvement and Development of Public Transportation in the city of Murcia.
The deputy claimed that the plan meets the following guarantees:
1 The establishment of a single rate, down to the town and villages.
2 The establishment of multi rate (bonds tailored to the different needs of users.)
3 º Increased frequencies necessary to encourage the use of public transport.
4 º Improving the fleet of buses, with acquisition of green vehicles and platforms for the disabled.
5 º Dissemination and transparency of the different rates that apply.
Rosique argued that urban transport policy in the municipality of Murcia is creating situations of discrimination among citizens based on where they reside, within that municipality.
It is "incomprehensible and unacceptable" that the bus ticket from Murcia to any of this coastal hamlet, where the route would be about 4 km away, cost 1.45 euros, while the bus ticket to Molina de Segura is of 1.25 euros, for a distance of 13 kilometers.
The deputy explained that not only discrimination that occurs with the ticket price which arises from the platform "South Coast" also calls to end the technical lack of buses, especially in regard to platforms the disabled, "that do not work in almost any vehicle."
He added that "the Regional Government must understand that improving public transport and mobility, which ask members of this platform is critical to respond from a public service to over 100,000 citizens residing in these districts and not deserve the deficit and expensive urban transport that is offered, "he said.
