The UCAM Moneo closure in the Third Conference of Nutrition Education, aimed at immigrants (20/05/2009)

The UCAM closed yesterday at City Moneo, the Third Conference of Nutrition Education and Food Handler Course, organized by the Department of Nutrition and Food Technology of the Catholic University in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Policy, Women and Murcia Immigration, the Ministry of Labour and Immigration, and the municipalities of Murcia, Lorca, Totana, Mazarron and Torrepacheco.

After completing the training program, conducted by experts in nutrition, food technology and veterinary medicine, and successfully passing the examination by inspectors of the Ministry of Health, immigrants were the Food Handler Card.

Professor of Nutrition, UCAM, and project manager, Juana Morillas, praised welcoming the holding of this conference.

Morin said about this social initiative, was created in order to provide information to the immigrant population on the wide range of food products consumed in the region, according to their nutritional composition, cooking techniques, and hygiene measures necessary in handling processes and their consumption.

"The project also aims to facilitate social and professional integration of this important group in our region," he said.

For his part, Secretary General of the UCAM, Jose Alarcon, said the strong commitment of the Catholic University of volunteering with the world, reflected in numerous initiatives taken by both their own qualifications, and by the International Institute of Charity and Volunteer Juan Paul II, presided over by Vice Chancellor of University Extension, Antonio Alcaraz.
