Members of the Municipal Youth Volunteer Program for Cooperation this morning visited the UCAM to raise awareness among university project that aims to sensitize young Murcia regarding cooperation and solidarity with the less developed countries.
The Municipal Youth Cooperation Volunteers enable young volunteers who wish to cooperate in international development projects, carried out by NGOs, in collaboration with the city of Murcia.
The project, launched last year, and for young people between 21 and 30 years old, due in large part to the constant demand for information on volunteer positions and cooperation in international cooperation projects and volunteering, as recorded in Youth Services and Development Cooperation of the City, and the increase in applications for places in voluntary service of the UCAM.
Volunteers will be involved for two or three months, in direct action with the indigenous people of countries like Ecuador, Guatemala, Peru and Morocco, will also participate in various social programs determined by the institution in which to collaborate.
Catholic University, true to his commitment to volunteering, the program provides collaboration through training courses to selected students, prior to travel to the country where the project will develop cooperation.
The Chief of Development Cooperation of the Municipality of Murcia, José Andrés Olmos, assured that this is a project from the beginning has been very well received among young people.
For its part, two of the volunteers of last year have ensured that recommend this experience to everybody "because you can see life from another point of view."
