The noise map of the municipality will be a valuable tool for environmental management (06/05/2009)

Murcia will have a complete map of noise after the completion of the second phase of this project, the company will conduct environmental Acre and the City you invest 95,000 euros.

After preparing the study in the town and surrounding hamlets, now is the time for updating the maps of these 16 districts and the preparation of the remaining 38.

Thus, Murcia will be a valuable tool for environmental management as a basis for raising the control or precautionary action against noise pollution, as is the noise map, as well as adapt to the European Standard.

The noise map will determine the population exposure to environmental noise, establish acoustic areas, make available to the public information on environmental noise and its effects and adopt action plans to prevent and reduce environmental noise.

The main phases in which the company will perform the work are:

PHASE 1: Pre-assessment and analysis of information necessary for the development of work:

This phase is intended to carry out an initial diagnosis of the study areas.

Analyzing the characteristics of the study area from the acoustic perspective: identification and location of existing noise sources in each of the towns.

In each of the streets and traffic infrastructure will determine the stretches with different acoustic conditions: different intensities of traffic at different times of day, proportion of light and heavy vehicles, average speed, different physical conditions such as number of lanes, height buildings, parking areas, existence of noise, kind of rolling, wide roads and sidewalks, central islands, road slope, etc..

The same shall apply to the areas affected by railway noise and industrial noise.

Based on all this will produce a final work plan setting a timetable for the implementation of the various tasks to be performed and the detailed description of the methodology to be followed in each case.

PHASE 2 .- Collection of information and data processing:

In this phase the contractor will collect all necessary information.

PHASE 3 .- Preparation of strategic noise maps and associated data:

The course provides the strategic noise maps and associated data of the study area considered for each of the following noise sources: road traffic, rail traffic and industrial sources, as seen in Phases 1 and 2 and a map to evaluate overall noise exposure in the study area, due to the existence, if any, of various noise sources.

It will also analyze the contribution of the main routes to obtaining the corresponding noise map.

PHASE 4 .- Acoustic Diagnosis of the municipality, zoning and preliminary findings acoustic Action Plan:

At this stage make a diagnosis of noise pollution in the areas studied.

Based on all previous recommendations to be proposed Action Plan to the identification of actions that are considered a priority to correct noise problems in different areas of study.

Once finished noise map is subject to public information.

The company will have a lead time of twelve months work.

The Environmental Protection Service has been conducting since 1995 to continuously measure noise levels during day and night periods in the streets of the city of Murcia, to know the levels of noise to which the population is subject,

The City Council has completed the strategic noise map of the most densely populated area of the municipality, the urban center of the city of Murcia, as due to the amplitude of the municipality and the complexity of the studies and calculations to perform, has was necessary to tackle it in stages.
