The expedition reached Murcia to Makalu base camp in record time (23/04/2009)

The climbers said they were very happy after reducing by almost half the long march of approach that had initially planned for 11 or 12 days.

The Murcia hired 23 Sherpa porters of race that have helped to transport the material to the base camp.

The total weight to carry the expedition is about 500 kg.

Mountaineers recount the progress of approach has been very hard, as they have been through forested areas with high heat and constant link to change up and down the valley and continue to rise by several high mountain passes where snow and storms endured.

Physical exertion has been intense because of the slow acclimatization to the altitude up to the 5700 m.

Fortunately, the whole team has arrived in perfect condition, thanks to have linked several days, accumulating vast distances and slopes, have managed to place at Base Camp in fewer days than planned and in fairly good physical conditions, but need some days off to recover and consolidate the process of acclimatization.
