The City on the school Murcia Europe (27/04/2009)

Murcia school know that the importance of the European Union.

This is the objective of the project developed through collaboration between the departments of Education and European Programmes.

'Europe at school.

2.0 European 'is intended for students in grades 5 and Primary 6 and aims to spread a new way the values and benefits of belonging to the European Union, actively involving teachers and students.

The initiative is a comprehensive teaching materials developed especially for schoolchildren in the municipality of Murcia, which includes key issues such as the origins of Europe, the formation of the European Union, the Euro, the European Parliament or the rights and freedoms promotes.

The treatment of this information is presented simply and graphically illustrated in the guidelines developed by educators, consisting of a teaching guide for teachers and a teaching guide for school-based activities to develop in class.

Parallel interactive workshops have been organized to be held in school grounds and the students, with specialized, will review the highlights playing European Union.

A total of 5,000 guides have been published for schoolchildren and 500 teachers, which will cover the high demand for this type of initiative is the educational community.

In this first phase is to conduct a pilot project in seven schools in the municipality, with the participation of 450 students, and will be a pre-release experience of this new activity for 2009-2010.

The dates and schools to be held in this pilot are: 27 and 28 April: Marist College, April 29: Our Lady of Arrixaca, April 30: Narciso Yepes, May 4: San Juan, 5 May: Infante Juan Manuel, 6 May: Our Lady of the Angels and May 7: Pérez Urruti.

The Department of European Programs and continues to promote community awareness and disseminating to the public the importance of belonging to the European Union, which has earned in recent years to receive the Flag of Honour and the Badge of Honor of the Council of Europe.

Remember that the council has undertaken over the past two years a traveling exhibition by the institutes of the city to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the European Union in 1957.
