The PSOE en banc require urgent improvement of road safety in the Azacaya of Sorrows and at the head of Torres (25/04/2009)

The roads linking the towns of the districts of Murcia, most of them regional ownership, present even in many areas, serious risks for the people who, every day, have to travel by them, caused mainly by lack of sidewalks , lack of pedestrian crossings, traffic lights and bays safe bus stops, among other shortcomings.

Beniaján Road

A clear example of this situation, denouncing the mayor of the PSOE José Zapata, is found in the road Beniaján, particularly in the area of La Azacaya, Los Dolores, the neighbors who have to go shopping or to cross the road to pull the trash or are simply taking the bus, literally risk their lives as a result of the lack of sidewalks, pedestrian crossings or traffic lights to cross.

In that area, he adds, is also home to the elderly and children, to leave their homes must travel on a road with high traffic intensity and to cross in front of a bus stop or containers must be done in zone line.

This situation drastically worsens when you install the cattle fair and the two sides of the road is overrun with parked cars.

Among Churra and Cabezo

Something similar occurs in two small sections of the road linking Churra Head of Torres.

Just link the two districts where there is a section of 40 meters which has no sidewalks, and another 20 meters which has a high intensity of traffic, so pedestrians are risking a violation.

In this case, the only pedestrian crossing that exists in the vicinity of these sections, on one side ends in a "stone wall" block, there is no sidewalk and no protection for pedestrians crossing, said Zapata.

Motion

Therefore, the mayor of the PSOE will present an initiative in Parliament this month requiring the PP writing a technical project for the relevant work to ensure the safety of pedestrians and residents in the areas mentioned, including construction of sidewalks , and the provision of sufficient information to ensure road safety.
