Citizens who use the morning bus ride in any of the urban lines of the municipality of Murcia will receive one of the 10,000 books that the Public Transport Authority (EFA) in the Region of Murcia delivered on the occasion of the initiative 'Journey, a book ', which will be launched to coincide with World Book Day.
The managing director of EFA, Jose Guillen, said "this initiative, which for the first time will take place in the region and has developed with great success in cities like Seville and Tokyo, is aimed at encouraging the use public transport through the reading, because the bus is an affordable and sustainable to read, study and carry out various activities inconsistent with driving a vehicle. "
This activity will develop in 133 buses, 34 bus lines that carry out 90 different routes within the municipality of Murcia, and the time that the books will be delivered from 9:30 to 12:30 and 16: 00 to 20:00 pm, said Guillen, who pointed out that the initiative will take place in the municipality of Murcia because it is the first city council that has been integrated in the EFA.
"We are working to integrate the rest of municipalities in the region, so that we can extend this and other initiatives in the 45 municipalities in order to guarantee citizens the right to quality mobility, and establish new systems of collaboration to a network backbone public transport economic, efficient and reliable sustainable mobility, "said the managing director.
The books will be distributed outside the collection "Masterpieces of World Literature ', most notably" War of the Worlds' by HG Wells, 'Gulliver's Travels' by Jonathan Swift, 'Rhymes and Legends' by Gustavo Adolfo Becquer, and 'Animal Farm' by George Orwell, and 'Alice in Wonderland' by Lewis Carroll.
