Members of the Cultural Association Al-Fajr PSOE moved to concern about the possible destruction of archaeological finds in San Esteban (22/04/2009)

Socialist spokeswoman, Maria José Alarcón, today held a meeting with the directors of the Islamic Association, who are committed to defending the cultural heritage of the city and have spoken out against the way in which the excavation is being carried on the area with heavy machinery and chains

The Socialist Party spokesman, María José Alarcón, today held a meeting with representatives of the Islamic Cultural Association Al-Fajr (Dawn), who have shown their concern about the possible destruction of the archaeological remains found in San Esteban and how it is conducting the excavation, by dint of heavy machinery and chains.

The management of this cultural association, which have not been received by the PP in La Glorieta, opt for the uncompromising defense of the rich heritage and Islamic findings San Esteban and do not hesitate, as they have said the Socialist spokesman "raise a protest with the Ministry of Culture and the competent judicial authorities, as they are using heavy machinery and chains that do not have to use."

The members of this cultural association do not understand how things break in the city remains Islamic, value, can become a unique attraction to tourists.

"I do not understand how a place like Murcia with such rich historical heritage not care", have been highlighted.

In this sense, Alarcón recalls that the Socialist Group is committed to creating an open-air archaeological park in the area of San Esteban.
