The XXIX International Jazz Festival Murcia brings the famous trumpeter Terence Blanchard (21/04/2009)

The Director General for Cultural Promotion, Antonio Martínez, today introduced the XXIX Festival International de Jazz, to be held from 4 to 9 May and will feature a total of 11 performances of free access to fill seats.

Among them, the Terence Blanchard, trumpeter regarded as the brightest of his generation and creator of soundtracks for the films of director Spike Lee.

The artist will perform on Thursday, May 7 at the Plaza del Romea Murcia, to 21.30.

The presentation of this festival, whose budget was 150,000 euros this year, Martinez was accompanied by Councilman Celebrations and Popular Culture of the Municipality of Murcia, Rafael Gomez, and the poster of the event, Antonio Ballester.

The director general said that "it is an extremely solid festival for his career, quality and perseverance."

The event opens Monday, May 4, with the Quartet CLEY, acting in Civic Center Doors Castilla, on Tuesday, day 5, Cash Hall will host the concert Mediterranean Carlos Sáez & The michirones project, consisting Murcia by renowned jazz musicians, on Wednesday, and at the same place, act Yaron Herman Trio, a young emerging figure in this style, and on Thursday in the Wall of the Rincon de Pepe after 24 hours, there will be a jam session, organized by the Jazz Association of Murcia, Zarangojazz will be repeated on Saturday, day 9.

On Friday, May 8, the Jinx Jazz Band will play traditional New Orleans Dixieland style for Belluga Plaza, Tatters and Santo Domingo.

Also on Friday, at 21 hours and in the Plaza de Europa, the young vocalist Laïka Fati add a personal touch to the great classics of jazz.

On Saturday, May 9, the Jinx Jazz Band reprise his musical tour through the city, also held by the Small River Dixie Plaza de las Flores, Plaza de Santa Catalina, Plaza Belluga and Santo Domingo.

The grand finale of the festival will put Philip Catherine Trio, which has performed in prestigious concert halls in the world, and to do so on Saturday, day 9, in the Plaza de Europa de Murcia.
