It opened the conference on the Environment and Sustainability at the University of Murcia (21/04/2009)

Murcia University today opened the Second Conference on Environment and Sustainability with the opening of an information fair and a green market and the presentation of the cars you purchased gas for university services of the Technical Unit.

At the opening, held on the campus of Espinardo, the Vice Chancellor for Economic and Infrastructure, Antonio Calvo-Flores, highlighted the main actions undertaken by the University within the program of sustainable campus.

Calvo-Flores added that one of the main objectives of these activities "is to instill in our students the culture of sustainability, which will affect future society."

The vice president also said that "we are facing a radical change in transport", and stressed the importance of the tram going to have to come to this campus because it will allow us to significantly reduce the number of vehicles that come here and beyond every day the number of twenty thousand. "

For his part, Antonio Nicholas, manager of the company "Gines Huertas Cervantes, supplying gas cars, said these vehicles have been adapted a team that is able to reduce by half the noise and fumes and lower CO2 pollution.

The Minister of Public Works and former rector, José Ballesta, expressed his appreciation to the organizers of this conference dealt with the role of the university as a spearhead in all these areas and most innovative environmental care.

Closed the ceremony the Rector of the University, José Antonio Cobacho, who congratulated the Technical Unit and the Social Centre and the Municipality of Murcia, as Deputy Mayor of Environment, Adela Martinez Cacho, announced that the town Council will consider tomorrow the implementation of bike lanes to campus Espinardo to be a reality next year.
