The autonomous protection to 118 children currently in the process of social reintegration (07/04/2009)

The Minister of Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana, today visited the Youth Center 'The Mulberry', situated in the hamlet of El Palmar Murcia.

In it are 46 boarding boys and girls aged between 17 and 22 years, of which 20 are semi-open, 12 open, 11 closed, two in therapeutic and preventive measure newcomer.

Community guardianship to a total of 118 young adults in four centers, in addition to the aforementioned, which are 'The Bush' (37 youth), 'Alea' (6), 'Pinos' (11) and 'Alcores' ( 18), managed by the Foundation Diagram and the performance of all custodial measures ordered by the judge.

It also has programs for drug addicts.

Diagram Foundation receives an annual subsidy from the regional government of 4,012,474 euros to keep the Youth Center in El Palmar.

In addition, during the current year are intended to address a number of improvements in facilities and patios doors and in the sports, which is investing 76,871 euros.

In 'The Mulberry' there are sports facilities including a gym, three tracks to play soccer, basketball and volleyball courts and a swimming pool in summer that is placed in one of the yards and workshops in gardening, a greenhouse, agriculture and versatile craft, and 12 classrooms for various activities.

During the visit to the Centre, the Minister was accompanied by Director General of Family and Children, Laura Munoz, the director Ricardo Sanchez, and the coordinator of diagram, Jesus Teruel.
