The City of Murcia offers courses for Arab women living in the districts of El Carmen, James the Great, St. Pius X and Barriomar learn Castilian and Spanish culture.
This is a project that was begun in 2005 and continues due to the success of the initiative.
The main objective of this activity is to provide a training area for the learning of Castilian, showing aspects of Spanish culture related to everyday life (customs, festivals, food, values, norms ...), provide information on health and educational resources and promote collaboration among participants.
In addition, it empowers women and their social inclusion and access to employment.
Among the activities proposed for these women is the workshop for literacy, social skills, personal autonomy, work schedules for the promotion of women participants and training.
In addition, there are activities with the children with their mothers attending these workshops.
Classes are held on Mondays from 9.30 am to 11.30 pm and Thursday from 16 to 18 hours.
From January to June and from September to December at the Municipal Centre of El Carmen.
The workshops involve a cultural mediator and two teachers.
The City invested 12,000 euros in this program.
