Tourism invites you to discover the traditions of Holy Week with the Tour of Murcia Passion (20/03/2009)

The Department of Tourism invites you to discover the traditions of the Easter celebration of Murcia with its Tour de Pasión, a tour of the main churches in town to see first hand the preparations for the Holy Week processions.

The first route will be held on 3 April, Good Friday, and depart from the Tourist Information Point Belluga at 10 hours.

We will visit the church of San Miguel to know the history of the Brotherhood of Cristo de la Misericordia and the image of the Christ Good Friday procession.

Afterward, participants will go to San Nicolas to witness the preparations for the procession of Amparo, explained by members of the Brotherhood itself.

The next appointment is on Easter Saturday, April 4.

This tour will depart at 9 am Almudí Palace to attend the convocation of the Confraternity of the Cristo de la Esperanza in San Pedro Square.

Later visit the Museum of Santa Clara to admire the sculpture of Christ of Santa Clara la Real, Good Friday procession of the Brotherhood of the Holy Sepulchre.

The next stop will be in the church of St. Francis of Assisi to assist preparations for the procession of the Brotherhood of Christ of Faith

Holy Tuesday, April 7, participants will begin the route at the Tourist Information Point Belluga, at 9.30 am.

From there the Church will leave for San Juan de Dios Museum to attend the call of 'Coloraos' and see first hand the Brotherhood of the Reclining Christ and Our Lady of La Soledad.

On Holy Thursday the appointment is the 17 hours in the City Museum (Plaza Augustine), the group is routed from there to the Plaza de San Agustín to explore the traditional 'saving Passion' and 'Correlative' sing the Auroros.

Later visit the church of Jesus to see the steps on Friday procession in the famous procession of 'The Salzillo'.

The city tour continues through June.

This weekend, March 21, will be held 'A Route to Science' which will visit the Aquarium of the University of Murcia installed in the Artillery Barracks and the Museum of Paleontology at the Association of Murcia has paleontologists in Los Garres .

This visit will be repeated on May 9.

'Murcia at Al Andalus' is the proposed visit on 17 April.

This route has its central axis in the Visitor Center Wall of Santa Eulalia, completing the tour with visits to other interesting relics of the Arab wall.

'Source Columbares', this route by nature will be held April 25 and May 16.

It saw Columbares travel to see nature, landscape and traditional way of life characteristic of Mediterranean forest.

'History in our streets' is a return visit in which it will be hosted on 28 March and 23 May.

This course aims to identify the historic old city, taking the name of the street, its history, origin and curiosities.

The tour will run through the streets of Santa Eulalia, San Juan, and Santa Catalina Belluga square.

'El Barrio del Carmen', a route scheduled for May 30 and June 20 consisting of a trip to one of the most traditional of Murcia to know its history, origins, evolution, monuments and gardens.

'San Pedro and Santa Catalina' is the proposed visit to the 13th and 27th June. A journey through the streets of these neighborhoods, their histories and their homes with a legend is provided by this route.

The registration period is open for participation in the Passion routes and those held in April.

For routes scheduled to begin on 9 May, the registration period opens on 4 April.

To participate in one of these visits must register Aldaba 2000.
