Solidarity work for 90 Murcia (16/03/2009)

The Department of Youth and Employment, headed Lola Sanchez starts the project "Labor Solidarity", which aims to give unemployed people an opportunity of practical work accompanied by training for the provision of services for people with special needs (children, elderly or infirm, disabled).

The program offers people with special difficulties for insertion into the labor market-under 30 over 45 years, long-term unemployed, women victims of mistreatment and immigrant-training and internship opportunities accompanied by related training.

The "Working in solidarity", which takes place between 2009 and 2010 has a budget of 455,113 euros, of which 80% is borne by the European Social Fund and 20% the city of Murcia.

Starts in March and will run over 18 months.

A total of 90 participants, of whom 70 are women, will benefit from this initiative.

16% are younger than 30 years, 27% are over 45 years, 16% belong to the group of long-term unemployed and another 16% to other groups with special difficulties in the labor market.

Beneficiaries will receive training for employment: Training activities to qualify as health care professionals to people with special needs.

Includes modules on "Health and home care," hospital nursing assistant "," Monitor the activities of leisure for people with special needs "and" Kitchen Assistant in community service. "

Labor practices are very important in the program because they allow participants to check the competence and skills acquired in a real employment situation.

Will have a total of 300 hours training activity.

The criteria for selection of participants will be considered:

· Joined on unemployment

· Load family or care for people with special needs

• The perception of unemployment benefits (subsidies, unemployment benefits or Insertion Income)

Do not have specific qualifications

• Be unemployed seeking a first job

As for the selection, the project will benefit people have great difficulty in achieving job placement for their own tools, because they have little or no qualifications, have not agreed to a standard employment or have left the labor market by engaging in care for people with special needs.

80% of the participants are women.

Workshops will be implemented to achieve specific development of personal and professional skills required and valued in the labor market and provide an autonomous search for employment by the Beneficiaries.

Care for dependent people mainly concrete care activities provided by a third party.

Expressed in terms of employment can be said that the care system is "very labor intensive."

Only one tenth of care currently provided to the elderly and sick within the family could be created in Spain over half a million jobs.

Many of those jobs will be covered by the women who have been taking over the care of their dependents, who may transfer and learning to value the acquired in this pursuit.

The largest number of jobs would be related to the Home Help program, residential care and day care centers.

DEVELOPED PROJECTS SINCE 2002

In all four projects since the beginning of the program have involved 280 people, of whom 90% were women.

According to age, 44% were aged between 25 and 45 years and 43% were over 45 years.

93% had low education and skill: 53% compulsory education and 40% with secondary education.

73% returned to employment after a long inactivity, primarily by family responsibilities and few opportunities for learning.

This program is funded by the European Social Fund, through the Ministry of Public Administration and the city of Murcia.
