The Mayor visits the Civic Center Juan Carlos I, a pioneer in Spain in reconciling work and family life (06/03/2009)

The center serves 182 children aged 0 to 16

The nursery is open daily from 8 to 20 hours, while the toy library and Conciliation Program serves children every afternoon, allowing compatible work schedules of parents with their child care

House this morning visited the facility, which has just celebrated its second anniversary, accompanied by the Councillor for Social Welfare and the president of the association that manages the center

Promote reconciliation of work and family life of working people is a goal that the City of Murcia is willing to comply.

This week has been two years since the opening of the first Integrated Children's Centre and Reconciling Work and Family Life of the City Council that 182 children currently go from 0 to 16 years.

The center, opened on March 1, 2007, received this morning the visit of the Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, who has come accompanied by the Councillor for Social Welfare Policy Equality and Citizenship, Maria del Carmen Pelegrin, and president of the National Federation of Women in Equality, Mercedes de la Merced, an association that manages the nursery and playroom.

This facility represents the first equipment of its kind in Murcia and is a pioneer in the field service national attention to the needs of the families to reconcile their private and working life, both the time and for services rendered, allowing compatible working hours of mothers and fathers to care for their children.

This is a space to allow the new family and social relationships that allow the balance of responsibilities between work and family life, while intended to encourage the recruitment of mothers and fathers to work.

It is a place for the care of basic needs, socio-educational and leisure of children in the municipality.

The kindergarten is for children 3 years and works from 8 to 20 hours, from September to July, while the toy library serves children 3-6 years, from 16 to 20 hours.

Both are run by the Women in Equality and is currently employed to 100% capacity, planned for 100 children.

Finally, the Conciliation Program managed by the company Connecting Culture and occupied 82% of the 100 places available, is for children between 6 and 16, from 16.00 to 20.00 hours from September to June .

Among the services offered is the tutoring, CREA Workshop (creative and artistic activities such as theater, movement, plastic), Workshop CIVIC (activities to learn to live together through mutual respect), Workshop A STREET (activities outdoor sports, gardening, games), specific care group for adolescents and mothers and fathers School and Special Education Service.

In the months of July and August makes a Summer School 8-17 hours.

Thus, the wide range of services and schedule allows the center to remain open Monday through Friday, throughout the year including non-teaching periods.
