The University of Murcia adapts the IP telephony system (03/03/2009)

In the presentation ceremony, held at the headquarters of the Rectory and where they made a symbolic switch-off, it was said that the educational institution Murcia becomes first Spanish university to migrate all their telephony system.

From now on network data and voice are integrated into a single, becoming operational management of the network and facilitating the customization of phone users, web applications in this and the management of the terminals.

Among the new value added services pointed to the information screen, which will control the cost of the call, in line with the austerity plan launched by the University.

Also reported the change of telephone numbers and future plans as the increase of mobile (wireless) and coverage for themselves or the routing of calls over the Internet, among others.

With respect to the renumbering, the current extensions are preserved but the current prefixes (96-836 and 96-839) are replaced by 86-888-XXXX.

Thus, it unifies the range of numbers from the University, spread so far among the prefixes 96836 and 96839, which were depleted and no chance of growing.

In this act of digital switchover, the rector and educational institution representatives were accompanied by the Minister of Universities, Business and Research, Salvador Marin, and the Minister of Economy and Finance, Inmaculada García.
