Chamber anticipates that transport planning should be done in conjunction with other civic issues such as climate change and traffic congestion
The Mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, acting president of the European Mobility Forum (Eurocities), will open next Wednesday in Brussels a landmark meeting on the Action Plan on Urban Mobility.
This meeting will take place in the European Parliament.
The event will begin with welcoming remarks by Miguel Ángel Cámara, to be followed by interventions by key political leaders.
Among the topics to be discussed is the search for solutions to the financing of urban transport, the promotion of sustainable mobility in urban areas and the need to create a Permanent European Forum on Urban Transport.
President's Forum of Eurocities Mobility also highlighted other issues valued special importance for Europe, such as the need for an integrated transport and the promotion of intermodality.
In this regard, the Chamber added that "transportation planning should be done in conjunction with other policy areas that affect the activities of cities, for example, combating climate change and congestion."
Participants in this meeting are Paul Bevan, Secretary General of Eurocities, Antonio Tajani, Representative of the Cabinet of European Commissioner for Transport, Sir Albert Bore, the Committee of the Regions or Marc Baietto, Vice President of Grenoble Alpes Metropole.
Also attend as speakers Gilles Savary MEP (PSE, France), Michael Cramer, MEP (Greens, Germany), Dirk Sterckx MEP (ALDE, Belgium), Pascal Smet, representative of the Ministers of Transportation of Belgium, Maria Krautzberger , Permanent Secretary in the Berlin Senate.
