Training to overcome social difficulties (28/02/2009)

Murcia City Council is committed to training and advocacy for people with low income and socially disadvantaged to improve and find a job.

The Session has approved an investment of 160,000 euros for a training program that aims to provide participants with basic skills and develop social skills.

In this training program last year involved 44 people (93% female), expanding the places this year.

Persons accessing these courses are typically users of social services, have limited financial resources, low educational attainment, unemployed and need financial support, welfare and socio-educational.

The courses deal with content related to literacy acquisition of basic academic skills and improve domestic organization, economic management, caring for children ... also develop parallel activities with their children as summer schools during the holidays.

This training program may last up to three years, allowing people who do it can develop social skills and find employment.

Murcia City Council spent ten years developing this program.
