Youth presented at the international seminar held in Murcia best practices used by the City Council to adapt the information to disabled
Informajoven's website, the Youth Information Service of the Municipality of Murcia, has released a video in sign language for the hearing impaired can learn the functions and contents of the municipal website.
The video is done in sign language, Spanish and takes about 5 minutes.
With this initiative the Council has taken another step to make information more accessible to all citizens, especially people with disabilities.
The new website of the Sports also has a video for the deaf.
The City Council has signed an agreement with the ONCE to adapt municipal websites and facilities for the disabled.
For its part, the Department of Youth, directed by María Dolores Sánchez, has implemented measures to adapt youth information services to persons with disabilities.
Among other things, there have been meetings with the youth of the Federation of the Deaf in the Region of Murcia (FESORMU) and a group is carrying out activities with the Informajoven and has completed a course to accompany the blind with the objective of enabling participate in municipal activities.
Furthermore, it is planning an introductory course in sign language for Youth Service staff, is intended to incorporate the Informajoven one afternoon a week, a sign language interpreter for deaf children attend, and installed a point Municipal Youth Information at the headquarters of FESORMU and ONCE.
Technicians from the Youth Council today presented the best practices being implemented in Murcia to improve access for youth with disabilities to municipal information in connection with the seminar "Good Practices in Youth Information as a strategy for youth inclusion sensory disabilities', which involves young deaf and blind belonging to municipalities and institutions in Europe and America.
