Over 200 students from Europe, U.S. and Latin America will attend this semester at the University of Murcia through various exchange programs, as an increase compared to last year's figures.
Students were given a welcome reception held in the Faculty of Law, where they were invited to participate in various sports and leisure activities that have been prepared to learn about the social and cultural reality of the Region of Murcia .
For this academic year, the largest part has been under the Erasmus program, which has mobilized 904 students, 424 of them at the University of Murcia and 480 from other European universities.
Mobility in Latin America has increased its numbers to reach 106 students, growth that has occurred mainly in the ILA program, which has had 41 participants from the institution of Murcia and 65 Latin American universities.
In the area of the United States have mobilized 46 students, while it has strengthened the University's international activities in Asia under the call for specific aid.
In addition, we have signed agreements with Chinese universities that influence the presence of Spanish in this country.
The rector, José Antonio Cobacho, in line with these data, highlighted the "strong policy of international relations" that has followed since taking office and the involvement of government and private institutions in student mobility.
By the University of Murcia, was also present at the reception by the Vice Rector of International Relations and Communication, Maria Angeles Esteban, who presented the planned activities within the Week of Welcome.
Are planned, including visits to the cities of Cartagena, Toledo and Salamanca, horseback riding and a beer tasting.
The event was attended by the director general of Universities and Scientific Policy, Eduardo Osuna, who reiterated the importance of mobility as a factor of competitiveness of higher education institutions.
