The Festival Murcia Tres Culturas in a decade has held nearly 300 shows for about 400,000 viewers (20/02/2009)

The author Murcia, passionate about the reproduction of landscapes, shows in his evocative and romantic vision

Up to 66 countries and territories have come to Murcia their culture through music

The figures show the success: nine years of intense, studded with music, theater, literature, cinema, conferences, dance, tradition and modernity, nearly 70 participating countries, about 400,000 spectators

El Alcalde de Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, junto a la Concejal de Cultura y Programas Europeos, Fátima Barnuevo, han presentado esta mañana el cartel anunciador del X Festival Internacional Murcia Tres Culturas.

La obra representa un espléndido paisaje del pintor Pedro Serna, que incluye los símbolos del certamen: el olivo, el ciprés y la palmera.

 

During the presentation, the Chamber has stated that, upon completion of the first ten years of existence of this cultural event, "not only have achieved the objectives we set ourselves, but with the new procedures undertaken, the Festival has become the event most important cultural during the month of May in the Region of Murcia, establishing itself as a cultural reference in the society of Murcia "

The Mayor also explained that, in recent years have been edited 6 compilation CDs of various editions of the festival distributed a total of more than 9,000 copies for the national and international promotion of the festival.

In the latter regard, the Chamber stressed that the festival was included in 2008 in the official agenda of the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue.

As musical productions edited recordings released on request at the festival is the "Misa Flamenca" by Carlos and Curro Piñana the fingerboard String Quintet, and "The Passion According to St. Mark" version of Coral Discantus and Choir of Lublin ( Poland) with the Symphony Orchestra of the Region of Murcia.

The number of spectators over 9 years has approached 400,000, being the show "How the Andalusian Horses Dance"

el más visto de todos, con 12.000 espectadores , y los conciertos de Goran Bregovic y de Diego el Cigala, que clausuró la pasada edición, con 6.000 espectadores.

Chamber also recalled the double vocation of the festival: "closer to the Mediterranean countries through culture and to reiterate a call for coexistence and tolerance through dialogue, allowing us to break down barriers between people."

The new author

Pedro Serna (Torres de Cotillas, Murcia. 1944) has felt from the beginning as a painter a predilection for landscape painting.

In 1968, he made what would be his first solo exhibition and, thereafter, participated in many exhibitions, mainly in Murcia, Barcelona, Valencia and Madrid.

Individual artist who has refused on numerous occasions to participate in contests to be against their nature, the technique chosen as the primary means of expression by Pedro Serna is watercolor.

As is almost exclusively thematic landscape, and their learning has been to principal references to John Bonafe and Ramon Gaya.

His personal style is reflected in the loose brushwork and color hue, producing a smooth glaze that forms.

Despite being a self-taught painter, his work has similarities with the work of John Bonafe and Ramon Gaya.

Is an initial period of search that is beginning to be used as an expressive medium of watercolor.

Landscape Analysis

His passion for landscapes has enabled the creation of a cartel of great beauty and composition.

Outside Spain, Italy and France, has been able to look at other landscapes, other different environments, broaden their knowledge and allowing you to delve deeper into the issue landscape.

Among other projects, has participated in the International Contemporary Art Fair, Arco 86, and the Seville Expo in 1992, the flag of Murcia.
