Retirees and early retirees would travel to Paraguay to promote agriculture and livestock (06/02/2009)

Business meetings and visits to industries in the region are other possible actions to be carried out

Murcia City Council, through the Department for Development Cooperation, who heads Remigio Lopez, will provide assistance to the Government of Paraguay.

This has been ratified at a meeting held responsible for development cooperation with the Delegation of Paraguay.

Undoubtedly, the workshop have maintained means the continuation of relations with the Paraguayan government initiated by the visit in October the Ambassador of Paraguay to the mayor of Cooperation.

One of the proposed actions has been to promote business meetings, visits to industries in the region, promoting cooperation in the agricultural sector, introduction of plant and animal varieties, development of educational projects in the field of vocational training and especially field of agriculture.

He has also expressed interest in promoting the movement of Murcia (retired or early retirement), which in their active working life have been specialists in certain professions or trades so they can teach in Paraguay.

The Paraguayan delegation also expressed interest in doing projects in important sectors such as the development of democracy through decentralization, poverty eradication by promoting formation processes in the agricultural sector or the exploitation of water for agriculture and livestock through aqueducts or transfers.

It is noteworthy that Paraguay is a country rich in water, is located on part of the so-called Guarani Aquifer, which is one of the largest water reserves in the world, suffice to say that only in this country is about an area of 70,000 square kilometers .

Remigio Lopez said the start of projects directly by the City of Murcia, such as the implementation of a vocational college in El Alto in Bolivia, as well as the possibility of other projects within the remit of the Local Administration.

Now, the Paraguayan delegation sent several projects to be studied and analyzed by the Department for Development Cooperation.

The meeting was attended, besides the head of Development Cooperation and the Head of that service, the following members of the Delegation of Paraguay:

Juan Modesto Cebrián, Consul of Paraguay in Castilla-La Mancha (representing the Ambassador of Paraguay in Spain).

Arzamendi Marley, President of the Association of Paraguayan migrants, CIRCLE SPANISH-PARAGUAY of Murcia.

Don Juan Francisco Facetti, former Minister of Environment of Paraguay (he was the Prime Minister), Doctor of Environmental Chemistry University of Antwerp, Belgium.

Biochemist National University of Asuncion.

Worked with the OAS and the IDB in Haiti, El Salvador, Bolivia and Ecuador from 2002 to 2008.

He is also Professor at the National University of Asuncion and the Institute of Strategic Studies.

Advisor on International Relations and Sustainable Development FUNDAINGE.

Raul Ayala, electromechanical engineer, professor at the Universidad Nacional de Asunción and Manager of Research and Technology Center, Faculty of Engineering, National University of Asunción.
