The Governing Council has approved the conclusion of a framework agreement between the Presidential and Public Administration and the European Commission will continue the operation of Europe Information Center 'Europe Direct' in the period 2009-2012.
The European Information Centre of the Region of Murcia, Europe Direct, which operates since 2006 and is situated at Manresa Murcia, citizens can check the policies and actions of the European Union and the European funding opportunities projects.
To publicize the activities of European institutions, the center organizes lectures, conferences and seminars, advice on European projects and provides facilities to query information sources in Europe and the TV connected to Europe by Satellite service.
Since opening, the European Information Centre of the Region of Murcia has experienced a steady increase in the number of requests to give talks informative, especially in education, the organization of activities on Europe in schools and colleges as well as seminars and courses at the university.
During this new period will be maintained and consolidated outreach activities such as workshops aimed at university 'Debatejoven.eu', it will strengthen the policy agenda in schools and boost the services of information on programs and European projects.
For the operation of this Center, the Community will receive a grant of 25,000 Euros from the European Commission, responsible for the implementation of information and communication strategy of European Union institutions, select the bodies which may Information Centers located EUROPE DIRECT.
In Spain there are a total of 48 such centers and about 500 in Europe.
