Begin the activities organized to mark the International Year of Astronomy (06/02/2009)

The City Council joined the International Year of Astronomy, with nearly a score of activities organized at the Museum of Science and Water.

Next Friday, children from 4-8 years may attend a meeting of planetary, after 19 hours, an activity that is repeated in the rest of Friday in February, March, April and May.

Also on Saturday will know 'The Sun and the planets' thanks to one of four children of Astronomy workshops have been organized.

The hours are from 12 to 13.30 hours and are offered a fortnight of touring.

Likewise, astronomy workshops have been organized for children 8 to 12: On Saturday, 12 to 13.30 hours, can "Discover the night sky."

In addition to these workshops and sessions Planetary Astronomy, the Department of Culture and European Programmes organized activities such as watching movies and astronomy astronomy and the planetarium, to join the multitude of activities to be carried out throughout the world 2 to 5 April to celebrate the International Year of Astronomy.

Also there will be a course called "Astronomy for teachers' and the conference" Discovering the Cosmos ", by Rafael Rebolo, Research Professor of the Higher Council for Scientific Research at the Institute of Astrophysics of the Canary Islands to be held on 17 March.

The Museum of Science and Water is also one of the stages of a national project that will consist in repeating the experience of Eratosthenes and jointly determine the radius of the Earth with the participation of schools throughout Spain.

This activity will be held on 26 March.
