"A world of children" born with the aim to inform students of Spanish nationality, origin, customs and lifestyles of their classmates who come from different countries.

The departments of Education and Social Services have seen this book a work of great value as it seeks to serve the students a teaching material for approaching the home countries of many of his colleagues, see their location on the world map , their lifestyles and customs, as well as some of the most outstanding characteristics of these countries: children's games, population, language, religion, dishes, traditions.

The publication, edited by Cajamar and that the City has a total of 5,000 copies will be distributed by all public and private schools in the municipality of Murcia, plus it can also be found in local libraries.

The book, which is for students under 16 years of age, would also that the students who were born in Spain and have families of different nationalities have a better understanding of their countries of origin.

The countries covered in the book are those which are the largest number of children in Spain.

So you can see that half come from South America and Central America.

Distribution

The books also will be distributed among nearly 50 associations that work with municipal social services activities for the children and the integration of the immigrant population, among children involved in 32 projects and activities with children currently being developed in municipality, among the children participating in the activities promoted by the municipal centers and in the municipal libraries.

The number of children under 16 years old from the town, according to the census of inhabitants on 1 January 2008 was 78,152, of which 8561 were from other countries (10.95%).

This initiative also seeks to support the work from the social services of the City of Murcia has been done in the process of integration of immigrant populations and projects intended for that purpose, among others:

Support for the integration and standardization of immigrant children, which are developed in 36 primary and secondary of the municipality.

Project activities with children and adolescents, taking place in 32 districts and districts of the municipality.

Educational building projects, developed in collaboration with university volunteer service at the University of Murcia.
