The Archives continues scanning municipal funds.
The Board of Governors approved the contract documents to proceed with the digitization of all copies of the paper line from 1939 to 1983 and whose investment is 49,880 euros.
The aim with the digitization of these documents is to improve access, facilitate consultation and preserve library collections.
The physical characteristics of the documents kept in the archive, with a very fragile medium and larger than DIN-A3, makes your query along with promoting the deterioration of the originals.
From the resulting images, indexes are made by applying an OCR (optical character recognizer) that allows searches for words and phrases simultaneously in all the scanned pages, news and may well find its subject matter.
Remember that the Municipal Archives has been working on the digitization of publications since 2002 and has already been created by Digital Newspaper Library which are available digitally more than 800,000 pages from 111 different publications.
