The rehabilitation program for prisoners may conclude contracts of employment 211 (15/01/2009)

The Minister of Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana, reported today in the prison of Murcia, 211 have been entered into contracts of employment between 2001 and 2008, thanks to Arachne program for reintegration of prisoners, former prisoners and family.

In this period we have also developed and Iris Apollo programs for this population, funded equally by the Community.

Of them have also benefited 643 people, 81 of them formed by the 15 courses.

These programs, funded with 135,050 euros in 2008, carried out by the Collective parenthesis, an association created in 1994, only one in the region to promote continuously the social integration of prisoners and former prisoners and their families and other collective social exclusion process.

For its work with 11 professionals.

Arachne Program runs from 2001 and is intended for inmates classified in second and third grade prison, with parole, ex-prisoners and family.

It is about helping those who are particular difficulties of access to the labor market and social and family relationship nonspecific.

Its purpose is to educate, guide and insert social and labor, providing the necessary autonomy to do so.

To this end, in 2008 was for 85,050 euros.

As the Apollo program, public awareness and voluntary prison, is also under way since 2001 and aims to assist those persons classified in second and third degree, interested in doing volunteer work in this area and the whole society Murcia .

The third, the Iris program, intervention with immigrants in prison, inmates are dedicated to those immigrants who are in second and third grade prison, with parole, ex-prisoners and their families.

Applied since 2003 and in 2008 was funded with 50,000 euros.

This year is expected to be involved 120 inmates in the program Arachne.

Today in the prison of Murcia there are 979 inmates, of whom 89 percent are male and 35 percent immigrants.
