The Murcia and bulbs can be recycled used (18/12/2008)

Murcia City Council through the Local Agency for Energy and Climate Change (ALEM) and has installed the first containers for recycling used bulbs that are scattered throughout the city.

This first part of this energy-environmental project has been to install recycling containers for bulbs in the building next to the council, the Local Development Agency (street Azarbe Paper), the headquarters of the mayors in the hamlets of Cabezo of Torres, Zarandona, El Palmar and La Alberca and North District Boards and Carmen.

This measure aims to reduce the amount of such waste, reducing the environmental impact of these products and the dangers of some of its components, which are toxic.

At the same time, is expected to increase the use of them, since they are highly beneficial as far as energy saving is concerned.

Thus, it promotes the recovery and recycling of these bulbs that can be reinstated in the chain.

The types of lamps that are collected are: compact fluorescent, fluorescent tubes, including lamps, high intensity discharge lamps, low pressure sodium lamps and other equipment used for spreading or controlling light with the exception of filament bulbs.

Thus, compliance will help local Recycling Directive European Union came into force in 2005 and involving different types of products are difficult to eliminate as: large and small appliances, computer equipment and telecommunications equipment consumer electronics and medical devices, among others.

According to this directive, producers are responsible for the management costs of disposing of waste generated from their computers.

In the case of bulbs, growers are allowed to apply a charge the same price to cover the recycling costs of products placed on the market before the entry into force of the Directive.

This measure is added and other similar ALEM and the City Council are carrying out their commitment to combat climate change and reducing energy consumption in this case through recycling.

Murcia City Council is committed to the EU together with other European cities through the Covenant of Mayors, to reduce by 20% the generation of greenhouse gases by 2020.

Energy-environmental recycling is another way for citizens to cooperate with this commitment.
