President of the Community opened a sculpture by González Beltrán in tribute to actor Paco Rabal (16/12/2008)

The president of the Community of Murcia, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, today inaugurated the sculpture by Mariano González Beltrán in tribute to actor Paco Rabal Murcia, located in the central Piazza Santa Gertrudis de Murcia.

It is a bronze sculpture of two meters, with which the Community of Murcia has decided to recall the great actor Murcia, who died in 2001, so linked to his region and his hometown Eagles.

"This region has always been very proud to have among their children Paco Rabal, not only for his greatness as an actor, but also for his great humanity, and now with this sculpture we further immortalize his memory," said Valcarcel, who also praised the great success as an author to choose the same sculptor Mariano González Beltrán.

The aquiline actor Paco Rabal, said the president, "has always boasted of being Murcia and pass the name of the region around the world."

Through this work, Gonzalez Beltran wanted to show a Paco Rabal in all its aspects through the great characters that made it big in film and theater, and convey the simplicity and the feelings of a beloved person by all Murcia.

Mariano González Beltrán, born in the hamlet of Javalí Murcia New in 1948, is one of the most important contemporary regional artists and more national and international art scene nationally.

In recent years, the career of Mariano González Beltrán has been marked by several milestones, including most notably two of the most impressive monuments and ambitious that have emerged from the hands of an artist in the region: the Monument to the Human Rights, which is located at the headquarters of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg and the sculpture of the same motif located in the Plaza de Santo Domingo de Murcia.

González Beltrán is a sculptor who projects the region beyond its borders and is the author of many works spread all over the world and are in some of the best art galleries, especially United States.

A building site, located in the Plaza San Agustín de Murcia, Murcia imaginero tribute to Francisco Salzillo, celebrating last year's third centenary of his birth.

The city also made an Icarus Eagles, symbols of the carnival, which is located in the Paseo del Puerto of this coastal city.
