The Research Coordinator Department of Physiology of Exercise
UCAM, Javier López Román, recently received the award for best
oral communication of Exercise Physiology, under the XXX Congress
World of Sports Medicine, held in Barcelona, with a presentation
entitled `Performance improvement in docosahexaenoic acid alter sportsman
ingestion. "
The work was done by a research group of the Chair
Exercise Physiology at the Catholic University, coordinated by its director,
Dr. José Antonio Villegas, and composed of researchers, Javier López
Román, Antonio Luque, Ana Belén Martínez, Carlos Contreras and Antonio Martinez.
Villegas explained that this research, funded by the company
Brudy Technology, corresponds to a line of research initiated some years ago
on the effects of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in athletes.
Dr. Villegas
added that "DHA is a fatty acid vital for optimal development and maintenance
health, at all levels. "
The physician was also welcomed the granting of this award to
research team and said the matter UCAM "which is the maximum
recognition granted in this World Congress of Sports Physiology. "
